Many things are happening right now, so I don’t have a proper blog post for today.<\/p>\n
Instead, here’s a little tease from my secondary Work-in-Progress. \u00a0(In other words,\u00a0not<\/em>\u00a0A Parliament of Bodies<\/strong><\/em>, or anything to do with Maradaine.) \u00a0This is from the Space Opera WIP tentatively called\u00a0Banshee<\/strong><\/em>…<\/p>\n \u201cTell us who she is!\u00a0 <\/span>Tell us how to defeat her!\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n Hagchlek made a noise that was oddly like laughter.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cYou won\u2019t.\u00a0 <\/span>You still do not understand what you are dealing with.\u00a0 <\/span>She is a human from Mars.\u00a0 <\/span>Do you understand what that means?<\/i>\u201d<\/p>\n Two of the shock troops came hustling around corner.\u00a0 <\/span>Kengle switched her rifle to sonic mode, and fired a boom down the hall.\u00a0 <\/span>They dropped clutching at their heads.<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s coming<\/i>,\u201d Hagchlek\u2019s interrogator said.\u00a0 <\/span>Hagchlek kept going.<\/p>\n \u201cDo you know what Mars is?\u00a0 <\/span>It was a desolate, icy rock in the humans\u2019 home system, and humans came and said \u2018We\u2019ll make this into a place we can live\u2019 and by fire they did.\u00a0 <\/span>They did that on dead moons and toxic planets throughout their system. And then humans piled into ships that crawled slower than light and lived and died in those boxes so their great-grandchildren might find a new home on another world, and when the worlds they found were also desolate rocks, they bent them to their will.\u00a0 <\/span>If you think some challenge is impossible, I tell you, you haven\u2019t met humans.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n \u201cWhat is this mad species?\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n \u201cThey are what you have brought on your head.\u00a0 <\/span>We fought them for generations and no setback, no failure could deter them.\u00a0 <\/span>When they collectively decide to defeat a problem, they will not be stopped.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n \u201cBut she\u2019s just one human!\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n \u201cAnd one is a plague upon you.\u00a0 <\/span>And know this: even if you kill Samantha Kengle, all you\u2019ll succeed in is bringing all of humanity on your head.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Many things are happening right now, so I don’t have a proper blog post for today.
